Themed Event

Ten Themes to Try for your Corporate Event

Everyone loves a good themed event, and surprisingly it’s quite easy to work a special theme into your annual traditions – whether it’s an employee appreciation day, company picnic or holiday event. You can always customize the menu, prizes, trivia contests and décor to fit any event theme, but below we’ll outline some of the most popular options.

Carnival – Midway games with prizes, hi-strikers, face painting, concession themed snacks such as cotton candy, sno-cones, funnel cakes and popcorn, strolling entertainers (jugglers, clowns, stilt walkers, balloon artists, etc.) and even mechanical rides bring out the kid in everyone.

Fall Festival – Cornstalks, hay bales, pumpkins and gourds spread throughout the event site get everyone in the fall spirit. Pumpkin decorating for the little ones and scarecrow making contests for all ages will keep everyone laughing and caramel apples, roasted corn and apple cider are just a few of the concession options.

Hawaiian/Beach – Teriyaki and pineapple flavored dishes, tropical flavored sno-cones and fruity frozen drink machines make the menu memorable. Leis and grass skirts can be given out or won as prizes and hula hoop and limbo contests are always popular. And even a steel drum band can be brought in to really play into the theme!

Superhero – This is a super fun option for an event that’s open to children. Create your own superhero mask is a great take-home craft option and superhero trivia contests with movies or capes as prizes will keep everyone busy. Strolling characters from the currently popular superhero franchises are available and believe it or not, we’ve even had a costumed Joker sit in a dunk tank. Guests love knocking the villain off his seat.

Fiesta or Cinco de Mayo – Create your own taco bar, nachos and churros as concessions. We can even setup a fruity margarita bar. A mariachi band for music and a hot pepper eating contest will cap the night off (with sombreros and maracas as themed prizes, of course!).

Western – Country music and line dancing will keep your guests on their feet. A mechanical bull, petting zoo, pony rides, cow milking or cow lassoing contests are just a few of the activity options. And of course, the main attraction at any western party is the food. Barbecued meats, baked beans, roasted peanuts and sweet tea will have guests coming back for seconds. Really set the mood with tumbleweeds strewn about the site for décor (you can order them online in small, medium, large and extra large!).

Mardi Gras – No Mardi Gras party is complete without beads (for prizes and giveaways). Children can make their own mask or bead art as a take-home craft. Street performers and a photo booth with props (masks, boas, hats, etc.) keep guests entertained and craw fish, gumbo, or anything Cajun or Creole keep their bellies full!

Monte Carlo – This is a great theme for an adult only party, but can also work well at a company picnic event. Casino table games, cash cubes, and all types of hosted game shows (Minute to Win it challenges, trivia, Family Feud style games, etc.) can be feature activities. Celebrity impersonators, photo stations and karaoke are just a few of the additional options!

Sports/Tailgating – This theme is a great option when your event coincides with a big local sporting event. Tents can be setup with satellite and televisions to show the game while sports inflatables and lawn games (corn hole, ladder toss, badminton, etc.) are setup on the lawn. You can even bring in a gaming tent with pool tables, foosball and ping pong! Menu options are easy – hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, pulled pork and brisket.

Olympic (Around the World) – This is a great option for employee only/teambuilding events. Team building/relay style challenges that pull from Olympic events are concluded with medals for the winners. Sports activities can also be set-up for free play and flags from different companies or departments used as décor. Food can be a fun area to focus on with an international theme – Italian (pasta options), German (bratwursts and sauerkraut), Asian (spring rolls and fried rice), American (hamburgers and hot dogs), Mexican (tacos and quesadillas), Indian (curries and samosas); the possibilities are endless!
